A day trip around Malibu is well worth it

by Car Hire LA on February 21, 2012

Do want thrill? Some excitement for the day? Then I believe that day road trip around Malibu would be a great idea. If you love history, then you will be glad that you chose this town because despite the fact that this city is the hub of most celebrities, its streets are marked with a lot of history that comes from its first occupants, the Chumash Indians. So why not get up early one morning and head out for a day trip to this side of Los Angeles?

This coastal community that stretches for about 27 miles is found north of LA and as you drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, you will appreciate the fact that it winds above the ocean giving you a great view of the ocean as well as the spectacular mansions of the famous and the rich. Occasionally, you could also pass by a surfer who is changing into dry outfits after surfing the day away.

Aside from that, there is the Malibu Canyon that will take you towards Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. During rush hours, this windy drive can be jammed but should you get the chance to escape the traffic, you will be able to enjoy the view that the canyon offers.

As you drive away, make sure you do not miss visiting the Getty Museum Malibu. This is a premier museum that has delved into the study of cultures and arts from Rome, ancient Greece and Etruria. The museum is open Thursday all through Monday. However, you need to know that despite the fact that entry is free, you need to make reservations first before you can gain entry.

While you are out for that day trip, you could enjoy dinner, lunch or Sunday brunch at a place named after the father of international surfing, Duke Kahanamoku. That is the Duke’s Malibu. This ocean-front restaurant offers fresh fish with original Hula Pie dessert. Then there is the Barefoot bar offering outdoor seating and a bar menu. If you keep your eyes wide open, you could be able to catch a glimpse of your favorite star enjoying the Malibu sun.

As you can see, the south of California has got a lot to give its visitors. With a lot of sun for all to enjoy and several chances to get into your vehicle and explore, what’s not to love about Malibu? Just give 1 hour of your day and you will not regret it one single bit.
